Advent Study — Watching and Waiting

Updated: Dec 28, 2020

This Advent we invite you to join with us, in house groups or individually, in following the Advent Course Watching and Waiting, produced by the London District of the Methodist Church.

This material forms part of Woven, the London District theme for 2019–2021. Woven centres on the power of storytelling to transform and renew us in our lifelong discipleship as followers of Christ.

The season of Advent is a period of watching and waiting in anticipation of the arrival of Christ. During Advent, we look back and celebrate the incarnation of the Son of God in the world; we also look forward in anticipation of His return at the end of time.

The course encourages us to walk through the season of Advent to enable us to engage in mission and discipleship as a way of life. The course is specifically designed to be used in small groups and by individuals. — An introduction from the District Chairs

Each week roughly follows a roughly similar format:

Opening Prayer — Worship song — Psalm Bible Passage — Reflection Questions for Reflection — Additional Resources for Reflection Closing Prayer

Please use what is helpful to you.
