Highlights from this week’s News Sheet…

York Salvation Army launches its annual appeal for unwrapped Christmas gifts suitable for children and teenagers to enjoy on Christmas Day. They can be dropped off at Haxby and Wigginton Methodist Church on Friday 27th November between 9:30am and 4:30am, or by arrangement with Lorraine Jones.

Our next collection of groceries for Carecent is on 1st December. If you’d like to donate some things, you can leave them in the box outside 29 Old Orchard from 23rd November.

Have you enjoyed our November Prayer Walk yet? If you are self-isolating or unable to get out you might like to imagine yourself walking the route — seeing the route and its stopping points in your mind’s eye: taking time to reflect, remember and pray.

The Refugee Action York (RAY) Art Exhibition continues in Aroma’s windows, and can also be seen on our website. STOP PRESS! RAY are making a 2021 Calendar featuring a selection of the artworks. These are only £8 each, with all proceeds going to RAY. Check the web page for details.


  • Sunday Evenings’ Coffee Hour continues, between 8pm and 9pm. Make a cuppa, start up Zoom, and come along for a chat and catch-up.

  • Haxby Food Share Project starts this Wednesday afternoon (18th November).

  • The first of the Wondering Through Advent sessions starts Sunday 22nd November at 4pm.

  • The Starry Windows Advent Display runs from 1st December. Have you started making your star(s) to give thanks for, and celebrate, the people who have been your ‘stars’ in the community this year?
