Aroma Community Fund
Aroma Coffee Shop in Haxby was started by a group of people from Haxby and Wigginton Methodist Church who had a vision for a coffee shop right at the heart of the community. A place to be a ‘Beacon’ in the local community: somewhere showing God’s love and where people of all ages can chat, laugh, relax and enjoy each others’ company — all with great coffee and freshly prepared food.
To give even more back to the community, when Aroma makes a surplus a part is given to the church: into the Aroma Community Fund.
We use the Fund to give small grants to help support organisations, groups, families or individuals for the benefit of the community of Haxby and Wigginton.
The Aroma Community Fund is managed by the Haxby and Wigginton Methodist Church. A Grants Panel receives and discusses applications, then makes recommendations to the Church Council.
Since 2009 we have given out over £19,000 in grants to nearly 40 groups and organisations in the local community including: the Churchfield Open Space; Haxby United Charities; Wigginton Grasshoppers; Oaken Grove Surfers; Haxby Playgroups; Headlands Primary School; Wonder Years; and, during the Coronavirus pandemic, the Laptop Appeal.
