After missing two years because of the Coronavirus pandemic, the Haxby and Wigginton Scarecrow Festival was back in 2022 with an incredible 117 entries.
Over the Early May Bank Holiday weekend a constant stream of individuals, families and groups came to the church to get their trail maps and clue/question sheets. The sight of so many families with their youngsters determinedly leading the explorations was heart-warming; a welcome change after the isolation and upheaval of lockdowns and restrictions.
You can see all the entries below. Click on an image to see it larger, along with its question and answer from the Clue/Question trail sheet.
As usual, we raised money from selling the trail maps and our refreshments to support four great charities and good causes:
The Ukraine Emergency Appeal — organised by All We Can and the Methodist Church in Britain.

OSCAR’s Paediatric Brain Tumour Charity — a charity funding critical research into paediatric brain tumours with the hope to find a cure and less devastating treatments and works closely with other charities.
Shine21 — a charity based in North Yorkshire offering support for children aged 5 and under with Down’s Syndrome.
